She’s done! Well, the stitching is done – I’ve got to get her framed and then she’ll be absolutely done. But she turned out beautifully!
The outlining on cut throats, snipers, Mexican bandits, and ass-kickers turned out really well. I used two strands on snipers and ass-kickers, and only one strand on cut throats and Mexican bandits.
One thing I’m concerned about is someone taking offense from this project. I surely hope everyone reading this post has seen the movie Blazing Saddles as then you understand how brilliantly funny is this quote and indeed the entire movie.
This scene has two genius performances. The first is Harvey Korman dictating the list and making it seem effortlessly spontaneous. The second is Slim Pickens desperately searching his pockets and only at the last minute finding his paper and pencil. Poor Madeline Kahn just had to stand in the background for however many takes this shot required.
I will admit that this project took longer than I originally anticipated, but it’s been worth every second. To see each letter and word get completed and to see this project come to life has been a real treat.
Here’s the first listing on Etsy for “bull dykes.” There’s very little in the way of LGBT themed stitching projects out there so I figure this is a great way to start sharing the words from this Blazing Saddles project!
