This Young Frankenstein cross stitch pattern is the latest addition to my Etsy shop!
We all know the scene – Dr. Frankenstein (played by Gene Wilder) offers to help his obviously hunchbacked lab assistant Igor (played by Marty Feldman):
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: You know, I’m a rather brilliant surgeon. Perhaps I can help you with that hump.
Igor: What hump?
Young Frankenstein, like Caddyshack, is entirely silly. But Young Frankenstein is better enjoyed if you pay attention to the details. For example, the lab equipment was some of the same equipment used in the original Frankenstein movies 40 years before. Igor shifted his hump from one side to the other, a sneaky trick by Marty Feldman that the cast and crew didn’t notice for a while. When they finally did notice, they wrote it into the script.
Although Gene Wilder is the lead actor in the movie, the real star is the entire cast. Gene, Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle, Teri Garr, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, and small parts by Kenneth Mars and Gene Hackman round out this terrific ensemble.
