Mid-Century Modern Cross Stitch Pattern

My Mid-Century Modern cross stitch sampler pattern is now available in my Etsy shop!

mid century modern cross stitch geometric pattern in threadworx fall lake collection colorwayI designed this project as a way to show off the color combinations in some of the ThreadworX Collections I’ve created. These Collections are (with a few exceptions) groups of 10 colors that I’ve put together, available in 20-yard skeins and 5-yard skeins. ThreadworX hand-dyes these incredible colors in their facility in Garden Grove, California. I sell all of the colors in my Collections as individual colors as well.

Above you can see the Fall Lake Collection with it’s rich and fun group of variegated browns, coppers, and blues with a few complimentary colors. I stitched the individual blocks of color in different directions – some in horizontal rows, some in vertical columns, some diagonal one direction, some diagonal the other direction, some in a spiral, and some back and forth a crescent shape. The pattern doesn’t indicate any directions in which to stitch, just what colors need to be in what spots. After that it’s all up to you!

One of my absolute favorite things about stitching with variegated threads is that they make every piece that uses them unique. No two people will ever use the exact same length of a floss in the same way, thus every project will have a different result! This makes creating with them an exercise in curiosity and a fun adventure.

Below is the same pattern stitched with my Golden Rust Collection with its lovely and earthy mix of variegated gold, rust, peach, and brown, with touches of coral pink and green.mid century modern cross stitch geometric pattern in threadworx golden rust collection colorway

Here is the pattern again, this time in my ThreadworX Earth Collection, a rich and fun group of variegated golds, browns, and greens with a few complimentary colors.mid century modern cross stitch geometric pattern in threadworx earth collection colorway

I really enjoyed creating this mid-century modern cross stitch pattern and seeing how these different colorways work with it! Stay tuned as I may stitch more in the future…
