This What it was, what it is, what it shall be cross stitch pattern is now available in my Etsy shop!
The pattern is based on my personal motto for my previous career: “What it was, what it is, what it shall be.” A lot of my job depended on me knowing the original budget for a project (what it was), what had been spent to date (what it is), and what the cost was likely to be at completion (what it shall be).
I like that this phrase is looking forward. The phrase “it is what it is” is popular, but adding “what it shall be” always feels optimistic and forward-thinking to me.
In my mind, I always hear this phrase as if someone with a distinctive voice were speaking. Someone like James Earl Jones or Johnny Cash or even Christopher Walken (ha!).

As a younger, more impatient, and more foolish woman, I went to one local meeting and thought to myself “there is just not enough Chardonnay to make this interesting.” I was also working in a lot of different places and it would have been tough to get the certifications and maintain the continuing education credits. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had tried harder to make that happen. C’est la vie.
But now I have this great what it is cross stitch project to remind me of the fun I had with my previous career. And there were some FUN times, for sure!
